As Patrick silently studied my model, all I could notice was his mannerism. He moved his head side to side but I couldn't tell if it meant my work was wrong or, if he liked it. After several minutes, Patrick looked at me - his head still moving side to side and, with a look of disbelief, offered one word to me. 'Why?' After some more conversation, I understood his question clearly. Why would anyone do this, was the message. Knowing the vast amount of tireless work and dedication it takes to design and build a real Formula One car, Patrick's look, and comment 'why,' to this day, remain the most validating compliment I ever received on my work. Thank you, Patrick.
